DAY PROGRAM
Day 1:
Departure from Paramaribo at 08.00hrs. Arrival Atjoni around 12:00 hrs. Here we step into waiting boats for a trip of approx. 3 hours across the rapids to the village of Danpaati.
On arrival we are welcomed by friendly staff with a cool drink. After checking into the eco-ranging Danpaati River Lodge, we will get acquainted with the beautiful surroundings.
In the evening, enjoy a magical starry sky along or just on a rock in the river, while enjoying a drink.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we are ready for a village walk in the village Dan just across the river. Here you can learn about the culture and lifestyle of the Saramaccan tribe. By 12.30 we return for lunch. In the afternoon you can swim or fish in the fish-filled waters of the upper Suriname river where you have the opportunity to consume your own caught fish during the evening meal. In the evening we have a boat trip in search of caimans, and snakes or frogs. After this trip there is a social gathering in the lounge where you can relax
Day 3:
On this day we make a trip through several villages to the enormous Tapawatra rapids, a magnificent rapid right at the junction of the Pikin Rio river and the Gran Rio river. Here you can get a good water massage. On the way back we make a stop for an educational tour through the rainforest, with explaination about the many medicinal plants that our forest is enriched with. The afternoon is free to develop your own activities: reading, hiking, swimming etc.etc.
After dinner, a cultural show by the domestic residents with singing and dancing from a bygone time, where you can join in if you wish.
Day 4:
Around 08.30 hrs we get ready for the journey back to Paramaribo, where we will arrive in the afternoon. |
