Apetina expedition
Rosevelt Peak, Tebutop

The Maroni River is known for its many wild rapids and several river islands (tabbetjes).Paramaccaners, descendants of runaway slaves live in the area between the Arminavallen and Ampomasula. On the western bank of the river Maroni, the 570M high Nassau Mountains dominates its vicinity. We also enter into the field of indigenous people.

DAY PROGRAM

Day 1
By bus we drive to the border town of Albina, where we take the boat across  the breathtaking rapids to Loka Loka (Waada). Here we will stay at Uncle Adrian, the manager of the resort.

Day 2
After breakfast we go to the village Tjong Tjong. After lunch we walk through the forest to a beautiful waterfall in the Lely Mountains. In the late afternoon we return to hammock camp where we will spend the night. 

Day 3
Departure to Three Tabbetje by Chair Man Island to Futu passion is a stop for a visit to the Grange Olo gigantic rapids below we sail on to Drietabbetje for a village tour, meeting with the big chief (Granmang) and overnight.

Day 4
Through the river Tapanahony we sail to Suna, a small village where we will spend the whole day.

Day 5
On this day we sail through Granbori, and Tutukampoe Punsula to Apetina, home of the Indians Wayana.

Day 6
Departure to Tutu creek. The day is spent fishing and making camp for the night.

Day 7
After breakfast we are ready for the adventurous trip to the Roosevelt  peak, a 784 meters high granite rock. On this trip, we will certainly come across animals like howler and spider monkeys,  bush rabbits and Okopipi's (frogs used for poisoned arrows). On one of the plateaus of the Roosevelt peak you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the tropical rainforest  and in the distance a view of the Kasikasima mountains, the rock magnetic and  the Tebutop. Hereafter we sail into the rapids Grandafutu for the night.

Day 8
After breakfast we take a forest walk to the top Tebu (400m). 

During the climb we see many species of colorful birds, monkeys Okopipi's (poisonous frogs used for arrows) and other mammals. In the afternoon we return again to Apetina, where we will have a meeting with the Granman, visit to the local school is also on the program. Once there you can also buy souvenirs.

Day 9
At 08.00 we leave for Drietabbetje where we will arrive late in the afternoon.

Day 10
Returning by plane to Paramaribo.
